Peek a Boo!!

Peek a Boo!!
Originally uploaded by anslatadams

Captured this shot, of Bear, he moves so fast the only way we usually get a shot of his face is to hold him up to the camera. I liked this shot because it's sort a a "corner" shot of his face! I added the autumn leaves because he's our November puppy! He's very affectionate and I'm already getting very attached to him. He came from a litter of 9 puppies!! He would have been taken to the shelter had we not adopted him or maybe HE adopted US! :-) I was missing having a dog in my life and voila, my neighbor called and said "I heard you were looking for a dog?" So Bear is our Thanksgiving Blessing this year!

UPDATE: I WAS SO EXHAUSTED, THIS LITTLE SWEET FELLA WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME, I DON'T WANT TO ADMIT I'M GETTING OLD! :-( PLUS HE WAS REALLY NOT TOO HAPPY WITH THE CATS, HE HAD THEM TERRORIZED. I KNOW THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY HAVE GOTTEN USED TO HIM, BUT I JUST COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH HIM, SO WE FOUND A YOUNG, ENERGETIC COUPLE THAT HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A BLACK LAB PUPPY! I HOPE HE WILL BE OKAY. I CRIED WHEN I GAVE HIM UP, BUT I KNEW I WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING, IT WASN'T FAIR TO HIM. I STILL MISS HIM. HOPEFULLY I WILL FIND A SMALLER "LAP DOG". I'VE ALWAYS HAD DOGS IN MY LIFE, I CAN'T IMAGINE LIVING WITHOUT ONE!! :-(

These shrubs are everywhere up here, coming up wild, not sure if they are native shrubs, I have seen people planting them as hedges. The berries are so beautiful and the birds love them. On this particular bush the leaves haven't turned yet because we really haven't had below 32 degree temps YET! Here it is Oct. 20th! Very unusual weather for this part of th country. Usually the leaves turn an orange color. Sometimes the berries are still on the shrubs when we get our first snow, when and if we DO get snow, I will try and get of shot of these beautiful red berries against the white of the snow.

Autumn as come to town and is leaving as quickly as it came although the temperatures are really not that cold yet. We are having a very unusually mild Autumn, perhaps in part from Hurricane Irene coming through. We're not getting any cold fronts from Canada and as far as I know, we really haven't had a frost yet!! Very unusual for this time of the year in this part of the country!

NASA - What's Next For NASA?

NASA - What's Next For NASA?

To the Moon and Beyond

Exploration
NASA is designing and building the capabilities to send humans to explore the solar system, working toward a goal of landing humans on Mars. We will build the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, based on the design for the Orion capsule, with a capacity to take four astronauts on 21-day missions.

We will soon announce the design for the heavy-lift Space Launch System that will carry us out of low Earth orbit. We are developing the technologies we will need for human exploration of the solar system, including solar electric propulsion, refueling depots in orbit, radiation protection and high-reliability life support systems.

***************************************************************************************************************************************
I am so excited about this! Finally NASA thumbed its nose at Washington and said to hell with you politicians, it was meant for man to explore the universe and we're going to do it with or without you!! Thank you NASA for showing America what patriotism truly is and the spirit of America!! I'm so excited I think I'm going to try and get a job with NASA!
At last my 40 something niece and nephew will get to witness with their own eyes, a rocket going into SPACE and to the moon, again! At last 40 years generations, will once again see man going to the moon and walking on it and to Mars and beyond and I thank God I'm still alive to witness this fruition of the American spirit. It is alive and well at NASA!!

Fields of summer again!

Fields of summer again!

This is the area where I saw the deer yesterday evening.

Deer in the Meadow!

Yesterday evening, I went out on the back porch. It was very quiet outside with just the birds singing and a gentle breeze. It was around 8:00 or 8:15 pm. The sun was going down. I had my binoculars looking towards the woods and nearby fields to see if I saw any rabbits or other wildlife. All of a sudden, as if an angel had tapped me on shoulder to see, I zoomed my binoculars into an area next to the woods where the woods and field meet. There's a fence there as the farmer has cows usually grazing there. The field had been allowed to go fallow as the cows are in the upland pastures now and a variety of flowers including daisies, were blooming there. All of a sudden I saw a beautiful deer. She was feeding along the fenceline on the side next to the woods. She walked along the fenceline and I had a feeling pretty soon she would jump that fence and start feeding in the field. I was right, she jumped the fence and started feeding in the field, probably rich with red clover, which wildlife love, especially deer and rabbits. She was so graceful and once in a while she would look up, her ears perked up. But most of the time she seemed quite happy grazing in that field. One time a neighbor went walking past several hundred yards from where the deer was. He walked with his head down to his house and didn't even notice the deer at all!! And the deer just gazed at him for awhile and went back to feeding. Her white tail would flick once in a while. One time she looked up and I would swear she could "sense" me looking at her. It looked like she was staring right at me! But then she would lower her head and graze some more. Because it was a quiet evening, I think she enjoyed being out there. I felt like I was alone with the deer and God. I felt like no one else was witnessing this except me!! It was an exhilarating experience and I was comforted by the fact that we are still surrounded by wildlife, and that man and his activites have not scared them off. Finally it got too dark for me to watch her and I came in. I wanted my husband to come out to see her, but I was afraid if I moved or opened the door, etc. it may have scared her off so I just kept still the whole time. I really felt blessed to have witnessed this! It was the first time in the 8 years we have lived in this area that I have seen a deer although I know they are here in the woods, but it was my first sighting of one here. I thank God and the angel that alerted me to look where I did! At that moment I thought, maybe there's still hope for our wildlife after all and a sense of peace came over me I couldn't describe!

About Me

My photo
I can be very social, but then a recluse. I like my privacy when I'm working in my flower garden. I like to meditate there with God and the birds and the flowers. I love animals, all God's creatures and I can't stand people that abuse them! I strongly urge anyone that wants a pet to adopt from your local animal shelter. There are many loving animals that are at shelters waiting for a loving home. You can find me most of the time on Flickr where I have a photostream!
