Tabitha the queen bee

Tabitha the queen bee

What a beautiful cat, but hear how cruel some people can be:

She has her own special chair but this little lady is a sweetheart. She picks on the other female Mama Kitty. She likes the other kitties, even the baby Peewee. She has a special place in my heart. I had just had her and her brother fixed and we were outside in my yard letting them play. It was almost dark and I went inside to get a drink, came back out, no longer than 5 minutes and they were fighting over something. Her brother had something and wouldn't let her have it. I thought he had caught a lightning bug. I brought them in and in the early morning I woke and saw out in the hallway he was laying funny, gasping for air. Raced to the vet, he died in my arms as I got there. When we went home I noticed something odd, looked like Dcon smeared on our truck window and it was scattered in our front yard. In the house I found my kitties vomit, it had Dcon pieces in it. Needless to say we had a necropsy done on him and it was poisoning. Terrible death he had, he suffocated slowly, zinc poisoning. The worst thing about all this, him and his sister could never meow, they had no voice but when he was dying in my arms I heard a faint meow. I will never forget it and my neighbor did it, but animal control said we had to see him do it. It was thrown from across the street hit our truck parked on the street and bounced in the yard and scattered. I had heard them out on their patio laughing that night but it was so dark I couldn't make out anything. I never thought my cat was poisoned till I found the poison. After all that I make sure my kitties never go outside and I have warned my new neighbors but thats all I can do. He did yell at us and said he would kill cats if they stepped on his property so I know what he would do. What upset me so bad was the fact that poison was thrown in my yard, my yard. What would have happened if little children had come over and picked up something from the yard and would put it in their mouth. I fussed and fussed with animal control but their hands were tied, I have to see him do it, imagine that. Well I got the power company to put up a pole with a light on it on the street in front of my house so it wouldn't be so dark. I pay extra but its worth it. He won't get my cats but I can keep a look out for others.Thats why Tabitha is so special, she lost her brother and they were close. He saved her by not letting her have the poison piece of fish, baited it in fish. This happened 5 years ago and it still pains me to this day.

When we rescued Magnum back in 1982 the
vet said he had heartworms and had to be treated for them. Thank goodness he survived the ordeal and lived with us for 11 years. He
probably would have been with us longer had he not got run over one day. It was heartbreaking. He got loose from his tie out
and ran off. People on that road would driveso fast, it always made me mad. I cried for days. Alas with pets, they are with you so short of a time, but they leave a forever place in your heart!

Thiswas the first time in our young lives that we travelled all the way from Georgia to Boston,MA! At least for me it was!
We met young people our age from ALL OVER THE WORLD, just like here on Flickr. It was wonderful. We followed the Freedom Trail and went to the old North Church, saw Paul Revere's statue, saw the cemetery at Bunker Hill. We literally saw where the American Revolution was born and where tyranny was stood down! :-) Wow! To a young person my age, it was the best trip since I had gone to Germany at 6 years of age. We stayed in the dormitory of Boston University and we could see the Charles River! Never saw Dennie Crane or Alan Shore! LOL! I was behind the camera. I think
this photo was taken with a Kodak Instamatic Camera (also one seen in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" when Richard Dreyfuss was struggling to slam the cartridge into the camera! lol)

I was over on business in Skye, so didn't get a chance to take too many pictures. But a few more will follow. Here's a view from the grounds of where I was based, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (the Gaelic College), looking across the bay onto the Sound of Sleat (the water that divides the island from the Scottish mainland). In the distance (you'd need to look carefully at the full size picture) is the ferry port at Armadale.

About Me

My photo
I can be very social, but then a recluse. I like my privacy when I'm working in my flower garden. I like to meditate there with God and the birds and the flowers. I love animals, all God's creatures and I can't stand people that abuse them! I strongly urge anyone that wants a pet to adopt from your local animal shelter. There are many loving animals that are at shelters waiting for a loving home. You can find me most of the time on Flickr where I have a photostream!
