There's nothing more beautiful than springtime in the Berkshire mountains here! The spring peepers are singing at night and during the day, the sunshine is so inviting! Living in a rural area is wonderful. And living near a farm is even better. Mr. C up the road has such beautiful land. And dairy cows, flowers, blueberries and a maple syrup farm! He invites us to hike the trails on his land. It's so beautiful, many of my photos are taken from there. I haven't seen my dear friend Esther all winter. I have been meaning to go up there, but something is always going on around here! Soon her yard will be filled with all those beautiful flowers you see in my Flickr photostream! I can't wait to visit her again. Her place is a paradise, also, and she
has practically supplied the whole neighborhood with her flowers. She shares because she has so many! It's wonderful to have gardens! Because they multiply and then you can share with neighbors and friends and it's a good way to make new friends! Hopefully our really cold weather is over with. We've had few nights still in the 30s (F). But fortunately no frosts! My tiny square backyard is beginning to stir with life, the Daffodils and Jonquils blooming and looking like sunshine in the shade! Now my Asian lillies are coming up (already!!) and so are my Daylilies! It won't be long before the two trees in my yard are leafed out and then I will be able to dispose of the brown Christmas tree that I keep near the bird feeder in the winter to protect the birds from hawks. I know people probably wonder why I keep it out there. Right after Christmas, it's still green and pretty, but as it gets closer to spring, it gets brown and neighbors look at it, like they're thinking "why does she keep that ugly brown tree there? Why doesn't she burn it, or throw it out?" I have actually two reasons for keeping it out there during the winter: (1) for cover for the birds feeding so they have a place to hide from hawks (2) recycle and reuse! What better purpose for a used Christmas tree than as cover for the birds! I look forward to summer when birds come from all over to feed in my yard and perch in the leafy trees.
I hope to get some evergreen bushes and trees growing around the little square so I won't have to use the Christmas tree, but even then I will probably find a use for it after Christmas.
We have Red Winged Blackbirds, Goldfinches, Chickadees, Blue Jays, Purple Finches, and occasionally Cardinals coming to the two feeders. My problem is, I try so hard to get a good photo of the birds with my point and shoot camera, but it's hard in the winter, but in the summer I can hide under the trees and they come up close and then I can usually get some fairly good photos of them.
Well, I guess that's all for now, it's 62 degrees F and breezy today. A gorgeous day that is calling me outdoors!

About Me

My photo
I can be very social, but then a recluse. I like my privacy when I'm working in my flower garden. I like to meditate there with God and the birds and the flowers. I love animals, all God's creatures and I can't stand people that abuse them! I strongly urge anyone that wants a pet to adopt from your local animal shelter. There are many loving animals that are at shelters waiting for a loving home. You can find me most of the time on Flickr where I have a photostream!
