April 1, 2009- Today it's overcast, but that doesn't dampen my spring spirit! I'm starting seeds
indoors in peat pots to get a jump on the growing season! I wonder if we will have an early spring this year. I hope so, I don't want to see any more snow this season!! LOL! This time of
year my mind wanders to Georgia and thinking of the dogwood trees, redbuds and other beautiful trees and flowers that are now blooming down there! I miss the smell of the vine honeysuckle and the gardenias and the magnolias. I wish I could afford a trip down there in the
spring, but that's not likely anytime soon, even though I'm saving all my change! LOL! So all I can do is enjoy the photos of my friends in Georgia! Here everything is just starting to come up and bloom. The daffodils will be blooming in a few weeks. My daylilies are peeking up through the ground, but I will really know when it's spring when I see the first dandelion!! Some people
abhor them, I love them! They are the harbingers of spring! And dandelion greens are edible
(as long as you don't put pesticides on them, which I hate). I wish people would quit using pesticides and herbicides. Just because they're too lazy to dig up the weeds, they are contaminating the earth and their children and pets!! It doesn't make sense to me. It's like taking your family on a tour through a nuclear reactor! lol So dumb! I knew a person that did a lot of yardwork and used all kinds of chemicals and then died at a young age of leukemia. Gee, I wonder what caused it?? I'm not being insensitive, but people need to know that these chemicals are lethal, not good for the environment or their personal health. Don't they realize the more they expose themselves to these chemicals, the more chances of them developing cancer? Duh?? When we can all find natural ways to garden, we will all be healthier and happier and so will our environment. Imagine how many birds, chipmunks and squirrels and other wildlife fall prey to pesticides and chemicals every year? Does anyone ever think of that!
Ok enough of my soapbox for now!

About Me

My photo
I can be very social, but then a recluse. I like my privacy when I'm working in my flower garden. I like to meditate there with God and the birds and the flowers. I love animals, all God's creatures and I can't stand people that abuse them! I strongly urge anyone that wants a pet to adopt from your local animal shelter. There are many loving animals that are at shelters waiting for a loving home. You can find me most of the time on Flickr where I have a photostream!
